Spurs have reportedly had a club-record £30 million bid accepted by Roma for winger Erik Lamela.
According to Goal.com, the North London club are expected to tie up the deal today as they potentially prepare for life without star man Gareth Bale, who is of course subject to a world record transfer switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Talks are reportedly progressing between the club and player who is expected to sign a £65,000 a-week, five-year contract in the coming days.
If the deal were to go through for the Argentina international, it would be the third time this summer that Spurs have broken their previous transfer record after the arrivals of Roberto Soldado (£26m) and Paulinho (£17m) respectively.
Such powerful and commanding transfer fees all lead to suggestions that Bale is on his way to the Bernabeu, although Manchester United manager David Moyes refused to rule out a move for the Welsh wing-wizard last night.
Lamela was only named as a substitute as Roma defeated Serie A new-boys Livorno 2-0 on Sunday.
Spurs will be keen to get the deal completed as soon as possible after losing out and falling victim to a late bid from London rivals Chelsea for initial number one transfer target Willian.
