Manchester city manager Manuel Pellegrini is set for another La Liga swoop as he looks to bring Valencia defender Adil Rami to the Etihad before the end of the transfer window.
Pellegrini has endured a tough couple of days at the helm of the team he joined only earlier this summer, after a 3-2 defeat to newly-promoted Cardiff City.
He then found out that captain Vincent Kompany will be out for a month after sustaining a groin injury in the 4-0 win over Newcastle in City's first game of the season.
Many put City's defeat to the Bluebirds down to the shabby defending of centre-back duo Javi Garcia and Joleon Lescott.
Garcia, playing out of position, and fringe player Lescott often struggled to contain Cardiff striker Frazier Campbell with the Englishman scoring twice to give Cardiff the win.
Because of this, Pellegrini could turn his transfer attention to Valencia's French centre-back Rami, after being frustrated in the pursuit of Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis.
Demichelis only joined Atletico earlier this summer, after being released by Malaga, but the Spaniards are demanding £5m for a player they signed on a free only weeks ago.
At 27-years old, Rami is a much more long-term option, but this comes at a price. Valencia are thought to be demanding £7.75m for Rami, who is keen on a move to a bigger club after impressing last season.
