Arsenal target Yohan Cabaye is not included in the Newcastle squad yet again, as manager Alan Pardew prepares his side for a trip to Morecambe in the Capital One Cup.
Cabaye has not played for the club since a £10m bid from Arsenal on the eve of Newcastle's first Premier League match, and is widely tipped to join the Gunners before the transfer deadline on September 2.
However, Newcastle are holding out for a fee closer to £20m for the French midfielder, and boss Pardew has been irked by talk over the potential transfer.
He said: "The answer is he is either going to be sold and we are going to have to replace him in the window that we have left, or he's going to stay.
"But I, as the manager, have to protect him and protect the football club, more importantly. The first thing on my agenda is the football club, trust me, and that will always come first while I am the manager here."
Cabaye has been a vital component of Pardew's team since his summer 2011 arrival from Lille and the Magpies' manager will want the situation resolved one way or another soon, as any late move could leave him no time with which to replace the classy Frenchman.
