Real Madrid have made a world record bid of £86 million for the Welsh and Spurs superstar Gareth Bale, a fee that would overtake the previous record set by them of £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United back in 2009.

It's more than likely that a deal will be completed between Tottenham and Real Madrid in the next week after Bale failed to return to the Spurs training camp today.

Bale started his career at Southampton where he played left-back before moving to Tottenham for a fee of £5m in 2007 where he moved onto the wing due to his trickery and vision.

Last season he spent most of the campaign playing up front for Spurs as he developed an eye for goal on a regular basis.

To wet the lips of Real Madrid fans and admirers of the magical Welshman here's a video of all of Bale's goals last season for club and country.
