Manchester United eye £30m Chelsea star

Manchester United are looking to get another one up on Chelsea after Jose Mourinho all but gave up on his pursuit of Wayne Rooney.

According to The Mirror, David Moyes is readying a £30million bid for defender David Luiz as he looks to reinforce his defensive recruitments.

The report claims the Manchester United manager has made secret moves for the Brazil international and is ready to sanction an approach for him.

Luiz’s future at Chelsea has been in doubt since the arrival of Mourinho, despite the 26-year-old becoming a crucial member of the team that win the Europa League last season under Rafael Benitez.

Mourinho admitted on Monday night that he was unlikely to succeed in his pursuit of Rooney and the chances of him switching to Stamford Bridge looked even slimmer on Tuesday when it emerged the England striker would not consider handing in a transfer request.

Moyes will see that as a triumph and the report claims the Scot will look to strike another blow by landing Luiz.
