Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew recently claimed that he was looking for 'one more big signing', and Senegalese striker Demba Ba has now been linked with a sensational return to St James Park.
Ba left to join Chelsea in January after the west London club activated his £7m release clause, but has found life tough at the highest level, despite a goal on his debut for the club.
The 28-year-old only managed two league goals in 12 appearances after his move to the capital and has fallen down the pecking order with the return of Romelu Lukaku from a loan spell at West Brom, as well as continued speculation that Jose Mourinho is looking to sign a new striker.
This could see Ba make a quick return to Newcastle as Pardew looks to strengthen a side that is yet to score a goal in the Premier League this season and whose only new signing so far is the injured QPR loanee, Loic Remy.
Following the club's opening day mauling at the hands of Manchester City, Pardew said: "I think they'd (the players) like to see another striker come in the door.
"That's something that hopefully will be done before the window shuts."
This could open the door to a reunion with his former striker, with a deal likely to be chased until the late hours of deadline day.
