Tottenham Hotspur’s club-record signing Roberto Soldado has declared that he “cannot wait” to face local rivals Arsenal for the first time this weekend.

Soldado has made a bright start to life at White Hart Lane, bagging four goals in his first three appearances to help Spurs make a 100% start to their Premier League campaign.

The Spanish striker has insisted that he understands the importance of a strong performance at the Emirates on Sunday, describing the clash as “beautiful derby” his side are relishing.

He told The Mirror: “My team-mates have already told me about playing Arsenal - it’s the most beautiful derby, the one with the biggest rivalry for Tottenham, I cannot wait to play in this environment and of course I hope we can get the three points.

“The new players all understand the importance of the derby.

"There are rivalries in La Liga, just as there are here in the Premier League, but Tottenham against Arsenal is one of the most beautiful games for the club and everyone who has come in from outside will want to play in it.”

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was victorious in his last match against Arsenal in March, with Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale on target in a 2-1 success at White Hart Lane.
