Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has called on boss Arsene Wenger to launch a late transfer raid on La Liga giants, Real Madrid.
With Los Blancos set to splash out upwards of £80 million to sign Gareth Bale, despite counter claims that Tottenham are considering a rival bid for the Welsh wing wizard, even the football powerhouse of Madrid will need to recoup some of their significant transfer outlay.
And Parlour has called on Wenger to capitalise on the situation, by launching bids for Angel di Maria, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema - with all three players seemingly up for grabs as Carlo Ancelotti attempts to accommodate both Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in the same XI.
The La Liga trio have all emerged as Arsenal transfer targets this summer, and with Wenger looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the window slamming shut on September 2, a move to north London is not out the question for any of them.
"If the Gareth Bale deal goes through then there are a number of players that Real Madrid will need to get rid of," Parlour told the Arsenal should launch Real Madrid transfer raid - Parlour

"They will have to say, 'we spent a lot on Gareth Bale so we can maybe let a couple of players go'."
And Parlour is clear on who he believes Wenger should make his number one priority ahead of the transfer deadline.
"Mesut Ozil would be the player for me, I love the way he plays," he proclaimed.
"Then there's Karim Benzema. He would be a great signing because they need a striker like that.
"He craves chances. Just look at the players they have behind him Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere, they open up defences all the time.
"Arsenal miss that 'Ian Wright' type player and Benzema would do that. He's not had loads of chances at Madrid but when he’s played, he's scored goals."
Wenger has come under-fire from sections of the Emirates faithful for failing to bring in any high-profile signings, despite having the funds available to do so.
With the September 2 deadline looming large, time is running out for Wenger to strengthen his Arsenal squad.
