The fierce rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham has grown more and more intense in previous years as Tottenham's rise to prominence has coincided with a slump from Arsenal.

In each of the last four seasons the gap between the two clubs has been six points or less, meaning the outcomes of these ties have had a significant influence on the final outcome.

Tottenham fans are desperate to see their beloved Spurs finish above their close rivals but Arsenal have always managed to pip themselves to the bragging rights and that final Champions League place they both want so badly.

As the playing field has levelled out, the fixtures between the teams have grown ever more important. As a result, the intensity of the north London derby is like no other rivalry in the Premier League today.

With Tottenham set to show off a host of new signings at the Emirates on Sunday and Arsenal in good form, we can be sure of another entertaining game this weekend.

Here we take a look at five classic encounters between the two clubs during the Premier League era.
