Rickie Lambert | Southampton

Football News

Alright, it's far too early to suggest Lambert is going to be a mainstay in the national squad, but no one can deny that his goal-scoring form for Southampton is incredibly impressive.

The 31-year-old, fresh from making his England debut - in which he bagged himself a goal - begins his second season in the Premier League knowing that a repeat of his endeavours last term will put him contention for a seat on the team plane to Brazil.

Lambert is so far untested against the very best defences in the world, but given his aerial ability, size and scoring record, there's no reason why he couldn't do a job if partnered with someone equally capable.

Keep an eye on Lambert because as far-fetched as it might seem, the Southampton forward could be an unlikely surprise package.
