Possibly the most exciting name on the list given his start to this year's Premier League, Sturridge has taken up the mantle at Liverpool in the absence of Luis Suarez, and could very well be rewarded with the chance to do the same for England.
Much was expected of Sturridge as a youngster at Manchester City, but until his switch to Anfield it looked as though it might turn out to be a case of hyping up potential that wasn't there. Sturridge this year looks a different beast altogether however, and it's no surprise that he's being dubbed as one of the most in-form strikers in England.
If he is to continue his great form then there's no reason why the Liverpool forward can't take the World Cup by storm as a surprise package. His all-round goal-scoring game has improved and of late he is looking increasingly like a top-class forward.
