Despite securing three points in each of their first two games of the new season, Tottenham have struggled.

Even with the arrival of Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Étienne Capoue, Andre Villas-Boas' side have struggled for goals in these early stages of the new Premier League campaign, earning all six of their points from 1-0 victories while scoring only a penalty in both games.

The absence of Gareth Bale, who was named the Player of the Season last term as well as the Young Player of the Season, has been significant in both games - and this is likely to worry Spurs fans.

It has also been reported that his record transfer to Real Madrid is close but has yet to be finalised.

He reportedly said that he would not be returning to Tottenham. It is also reported that Real Madrid erected a stage that was reportedly built to be used to unveil Bale which angered Spurs.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in signing the Welsh midfielder but this has not been confirm by the club.

Spurs will be hoping that Bale changes his mind and decides to stay in London.
