Barcelona have turned down Napoli's revised bid for Liverpool target Martin Montoya, according to talkSPORT and sources in Italy.
New Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is seemingly desperate to add Montoya to his squad and confirm him as his seventh signing since taking over the reigns earlier this summer.
Although not a regular starter at the Nou Camp, Spanish full-back Montoya is held in high regarded among the staff at Barcelona and is seen as the long-term replacement for Dani Alves.
Interest for Montoya is also high, though with several clubs around Europe hunting the 22-year-old's signature, most notably Inter Milan and Liverpool, a move is not certain.
And although Liverpool are yet to make an official bid, public interest from Napoli and a likely third bid from the Italian outfit could prompt Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers into acting.
What makes the saga more interesting is that Montoya has less than a year left on his Nou Camp contract, with no apparent discussions over an extension imminent.
