Tottenham Hotspur had one of the best transfer windows in the summer so far.

The additions of Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Nacer Chadli has strengthened the White Hart Lane based team significantly this summer.

Meanwhile, the departures of William Gallas, David Bentley, Scott Parker, Tom Huddlestone, Clint Dempsey and Steven Caulker has helped them to balance the books as well.

The trio of Andre Villas-Boas, Franco Baldini and Daniel Levy had a busy summer and hectic week is ahead of them. Gareth Bale's world record move away from the club is in the pipeline while Spurs are also trying to find suitors for Emmanuel Adebayor and Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

Romanian centre-back Vlad Chiriches and Roma winger Eric Lamela are expected to join the team in this week, as Spurs are undergoing a major overhaul this summer.

They are considered as title contenders already, and further additions are expected over time to make them even stronger.

On the other hand, Spurs suffered a rare setback in this window, when Chelsea hijacked their move for Willian. He was eyed as a replacement for Bale, and that is one position where Spurs are looking to strengthen.

Bale was a huge success as the No.10 in AVB's team last season. With their failure to capture Brazilian Willian, Spurs have made a wish list of three players to ease the loss of the Welshman.

With Gylfi Sigurdsson and Lewis Holtby yet to show their brilliance in that position, a new signing is expected to solve the problem for Villas-Boas.

On top of their wish list is Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen, who is tipped as the next Michael Laudrup in footballing circles. The Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund target is Tottenham's number one option ahead of Lazio's Hernanes and Valencia's Ever Banega.

Brazilian Hernanez and Argentine Banega are considered as back-up targets, according to the Daily Mirror, if Tottenham fail to land Eriksen. Both of them can be tempted to a move to White Hart Lane, even though they do not have Champions League football to offer.

Levy and Bladini are in Amsterdam for discussions with Ajax for the deal of one of the most coveted signatures in Europe. Failing to land Eriksen, it is believed that they will target one of the other two to plug the holes in midfield.

If Spurs can land one of them, they are surely expected to go beyond the top four position this season thanks to their wonderful transfer strategy. Who will you prefer at Spurs? Christian Eriksen, Hernanes or Banega?
