The official WWE website (WWE.com) was taken offline yesterday for one hour.

A user behind a Twitter account that promotes hacking (named Anonymous Indonesia - @AnonNewsIndo), is claiming to have forced the website offline, according to reports

The individual behind the Twitter account wrote:

"World Wrestling Entertainment Down http://www.wwe.com/ Time To HELP SYRIA By #Fr0styFr0ze #OpSyria #Anonymous"

Although the hack is unconfirmed, it's possible WWE.com was brought down by members of the group.

'Anonymous' is the highly publicised hacking group who have become known for hacking government, religious, and corporate websites, such as the websites for the FBI, Fox.com and PayPal.

The most publicised hack was on Sony's PlayStation Network in April 2011, when more than 100 million Sony accounts were compromised.
