Real Madrid and France footballing legend Zinedine Zidane has lavished praise on Gareth Bale, talkSport.com reports.
The former Galactico offered his thoughts on the Tottenham winger ahead of his expected move to Madrid, which should see him break the world record transfer fee paid by the Spanish giants for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Zidane, widely regarded as one of the best players in the history of the sport, believes Bale has exactly what it takes to excel in Spain, and even regards him as on par with Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, whom many consider to be well within a league of their own.
When asked why he considered Bale to be the best in Europe, Zizou replied: "I want to say ‘everything’, because he’s a player who’s different.
"You have players like Ronaldo or Messi, and he is very different from those two. I saw him play a lot last season, and in a way I wasn’t surprised because I knew he had great qualities. But I was surprised by his ability to score at key moments of a game. He is a player who started [his career] playing left-back, and now he plays everywhere.
"There are lots of excellent players, but the one that really caught my attention this season is Gareth.”
The 41-year-old World Cup winner, now an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti in the Madrid dugout, even went as far as to speculate that Bale could be the best in the world within a few seasons.
"As a player you don’t even think about the fee, but there is hysteria that comes with it... we are looking at a guy who can be the best in the world for the next four or five years,” Zidane concluded.
