West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster is the most obvious threat to Joe Hart's position in the England setup. The 30-year-old has been in outstanding form since moving to The Hawthorns on a permanent deal from midlands rivals Birmingham in 2012, but recently suffered a stress fracture in his right foot that will keep him sidelined for approximately three months.
Foster announced his return from a self-imposed international exile back in February after discussions with Hodgson, the man who initially brought him to West Brom on a loan deal back in 2011.
He has earned six England caps in his career to date, with his debut coming against Spain in February 2007. His last international outing came in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland earlier this year.
