Juan Mata's undecided future at Chelsea has been thrown into yet more turmoil after the club finalised a transfer with Brazilian ace Willian yesterday.
The playmaker came with a price tag of £32 million, but this transfer could have mark the end of Mata's time at Stamford Bridge.
Sky Sports have reported that the Blues would not sell Mata to the White Hart Lane outfit under any circumstance.
With the London rivals both strong contenders in this year's Premier League race, Chelsea do not want to sell a quality player like Mata to another team vying for the title.
Andre Villas-Boas is launching a revolution at Tottenham, making record signings in this transfer window and has expressed his interest in Mata.
"Mata is a great player - player of the season last season, a very important player for Chelsea," Villas-Boas told Sky Sports.
"But Chelsea wouldn't sell to Tottenham in any way, as they think we are title contenders.
"They're just not going to strengthen another team that, in their opinion, are rivals for the title."
Chelsea can boast a very strong and creative midfield, but it doesn't seem that Mata is fitting into Mourinho's first-team plans this season.
Although the Spaniard may make an exit from Stamford Bridge in the near future, it's highly unlikely that the self-proclaimed 'Special One' will sell to Spurs.
