Everton boss Roberto Martinez has denied reports that Leighton Baines has asked for a transfer to Manchester United.

The England left-back is reportedly determined to join the Premier League champions - but Martinez insisted in his latest press conference that this is not the case.

Chelsea look set to complete the signing of Samuel Eto'o after the Cameroon striker arrived in London last night.

The 32-year-old will undergo a medical later today before finalising his move from Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala.

Arsenal have reportedly re-signed the French midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who is believed to have agreed a two-year deal with the Gunners.

Flamini left AC Milan this summer after a five-year spell at the San Siro - and will reportedly earn £50,000-a-week in his second spell at the Emirates.

Ajax manager Frank de Boer has admitted that losing playmaker Christian Eriksen to Tottenham will be a huge blow for the Dutch champions.

Eriksen is poised to join Spurs in the forthcoming days - and De Boer fears it will be impossible to replace him.

Manchester City could trigger the release clause of highly-rated Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Reports in France claim that City are prepared to pay the €45m clause to release the 22-year-old from his current contract.

And finally, Barcelona lifted the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday night following a 0-0 draw with Atletico Madrid.

Lionel Messi missed a penalty in the closing stages of the match, while Atletico had two players sent off, but Barcelona lifted the cup thanks to the away goals rule.
