Romanian International defender Vlad Chiriches is edging closer to a move to Tottenham Hotspur after arriving at Heathrow airport with his wife on Wednesday night for a medical, reports the Daily Mail.
Spurs have agreed a fee of around £8.5million with Chiriches' club Steaua Bucharest as they are looking to strengthen their defence following the sale of Steven Caulker to Cardiff City for £7.5million, and the release of William Gallas.
The north London outfit have been splashing the cash this summer ahead of the expected sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid for £86million.
Having already signed Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and Nacer Chadli for around £60million, Spurs are also expected to complete deals for Erik Lamela from Roma for £30million, and Christian Eriksen from Ajax for £12million.
Chiriches has played for four different Romanian clubs as well as spending a season in Portugal with Benfica, and has won 19 caps for his country winning the Romanian League and Supercup last season.
