Liverpool are determined to complete more deals before the transfer deadline next Monday.
A central defender is top of the list especially after losing Kolo Toure and Sebastian Coates to injury, Liverpool are also keen on a wide man with Andriy Yarmolenko a likely arrival, according to the Daily Star.
The Ukrainian international has just one year left on his contract with Dynamo Kiev and they believe an offer of €23million (£19.5m) to be sufficient.
In the centre-back position, Liverpool only have Daniel Agger, out of favour Martin Skrtel and youngster Andre Wisdom are the only players available to Brendan Rodgers.
The Northern Irishman is keen on two players in particular, long-term target Tiago Ilori of Sporting Lisbon, who the Portuguese club are demanding £15million, as well as Greek international Kyriakos Papadopolous of Schalke.
Papadopolous has had his injury problems over the past few years, but the German club are keen to keep hold of the highly rated defender, who has attracted interest from top clubs such as Manchester City.
