Arsenal's potential move for Juan Mata has been blocked by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, according to the Daily Star.

The Spanish playmaker was reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates, however he has been told there's no chance that he will be leaving the Blues before the start of the end of the transfer window.

Mata, whose father was spotted at the Emirates on Tuesday, was left on the bench as Chelsea managed to secure a point at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The Spaniard had also been linked with a move to Arsenal's north London rivals Spurs, but he now looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may now have to turn his attention to Madrid as Angel di Maria, Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Iker Casillas have all been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates.

Wenger is also considering a new offer for Newcastle United midfield ace Yohan Cabaye.
