David Beckham has returned to the football pitch after he was seen training with his old LA Galaxy side.

The former Manchester United icon had retired only last season at Paris Saint-Germain, and had come down to train with the American side in his old No. 23 shirt.

Beckham wanted to join up with the team ahead of their match against the San José Earthquakes on Saturday, according to the club's official website.

Galaxy manager Bruce Arena said that the Englishman's visit was a huge boost to his team's morale and that he was happy with Beckham's association with the club.

He told LA Galaxy's website: "It was fun. He’s great."

"It brings a good karma to the group,”

"It’s always wonderful to see David. It was great for the years that he was here and the fact that he still stays in touch is very important to our team and our organization."

Arena also made a few jokes about Beckham's playing style.

"He’s on trial," Arena joked.

"He's got to work on his crossing, on his passing a little bit. If he can get better in those areas, we would consider signing him.
