After Celtic edged past Shakhter Karagandy thanks to a last minute winner from James Forest, they were subsequently placed into so-called 'group of death' in the Champions League.
The teams they have to face are Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax - three European giants. Between the four teams they have won the Champions League an astonishing 16 times so, as you would expect, this is not going to be easy for Celtic.
Here, I am going to have a look at the why these clubs will be tough opponents in the upcoming group stage matches:
Barcelona - This is the team that most clubs have nightmares about. With the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, anyone would dread facing them. They are one of the favourites and have won this trophy plenty of times before. Don't give them a chance or you will regret it.
Ajax - They aren't the team that they used to be but they are still a major threat. Ajax are reigning champions of the Eredivisie and still possess some great players, including Christian Eriksen. They shouldn't be written off straight away and they certainly wont make it simple for Celtic.
AC Milan - Again, this is a club that is not at its prime but the Italian giants have won this trophy seven times so they know what it takes to be the best. The surprise acquisition of Mario Balotelli has seen a marked change in the player. His scoring record has improved too, which has significantly helped AC Milan.
So as you can see, Celtic will have to be at their best and are now 1000/1 to win the competition.
Despite all this, they have beaten Barcelona before, so why can't they do it again?
