Liverpool Football Club, once the top dog of European and English football have been nowhere near as close to such dominance in the Premier League era.
However, a lot of people look past the potential in their team and disregard them as possible champions of England. The Premier League trophy may be finding its way to the red side of Liverpool a lot sooner than people may believe.
Although the club has made some very questionable signings over recent years, such as Andy Carroll, they have definitely strengthened their squad under Brendan Rodgers. Some top draw talent has been added to the team with signings such as Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea and Brazilian playmaker Coutinho from Inter Milan.
Add to that Luis Suarez, who looks to be staying in Liverpool and captain Steven Gerrard, they have some truly world-class players that any team in the world would be lucky to have.
Rodgers is the right man to lead Liverpool into the future. His playing style may come under some scrutiny and be called risky because of doing things such as passing out from the back rather than clearing the ball, but there is no denying his work ethic and how hard he works to try and get the best out of his players.
He also seems to have handled the Luis Suarez saga very capably, stating from very early on that the player is not leaving, whether he likes it or not.
The main reason Liverpool are such a threat, is their two main strikers, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. With Sturridge off to a fantastic start this season and Suarez set to continue his fantastic form from the previous campaign, they have two stars they have done very well to attain. If Liverpool are to be champions for a nineteenth time, they will need Sturridge and Suarez fully fit and firing goals in left right and centre.
Although I don't believe they are quite ready to fight for the title, they are definitely capable of getting a Champions League spot this season and with a few signings over the next couple of years, they could very well be champions of England in a not too distant future.
