We all knew that it was going to be just a matter of time before the arch rivals Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola would once again lock horns against each other. But never expected it to come across so soon. Well folks, here it is!
The UEFA Super Cup where Mou's Chelsea will face Pep's Bayern, who happen to be on the top of their game in all departments. Analysing all fronts, it's the Bavarians who come out as the lions on paper, yet Chelsea can't be brushed aside so casually.
Chelsea have proved it in the past that they are giant killers and may be unplayable on their day if they click.
Bayern have a glittering line up. Their midfield is fantastic, so is their defence and the attack, just look at their treble-winning campaign last season.
En route to the last year's Champions League final they dismantled everyone who stood in their way, even thumping barcelona 7-0 over two legs.
They now have an incredibly successful Spaniard as their coach. Chelsea have lots of reasons to be scared of them. But this is not the way it works, is it?
Chelsea play this game as the underdogs, the team that managed to win the Europa league very narrowly under the stewardship of the highly unpopular Rafa Benitez last season.
What may be an advantage to them this time around is the presence of Jose at the helm, who is kind of an alchemist and is known for his brilliance world over.
The team is lacking in the attacking department with the out of form Fernando Torres and Demba Ba. Romelu Lukaku may be too inexperienced to handle the pressure. Recently they announced the signing of Samuel Eto'o from Anzhi Makhachkala, who won't feature in the today's game.
Their midfield is quite star studded, but the defence is kind of fragile. So we can't expect them to assert dominance throughout the 90 minutes. If they happen to win, it has to be a narrowly crafted win.
The most interesting battle will however be played not on the field, but in the minds of the two rival managers. It will be a treat to watch. Expect tonight's game to a dramatic one, full of excitement and well, maybe controversies too.
