AC Milan star Kevin-Prince Boateng is set to join German team Schalke in the next 24 hours.

The Ghanaian has impressed in Italy and has become one of the top players at the club, so the move comes somewhat a surprise to many fans.

The 26-year-old is no stranger to German football, having played for both Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund in the past.

With very little been said about the transfer before now, it is difficult to see why Milan would be willing to let one of their key stars leave the club.

There is one reason however that could help to explain the decision; that concerns former AC Milan favourite Kaka.

The Brazilian has handed in a transfer request in order to end his Real Madrid nightmare.

The Brazilian was signed by Los Blancos for a then world-record fee of £56 million, but struggled to ever recapture the form he showed at Milan.

Now the 31-year-old, who is also being linked with multiple Premier League clubs, could be set to make a sensational return to San Siro.

Real Madrid are likely to be holding out for around £10m for Kaka, but with the transfer window ending very shortly, if Milan are serious about the move they may be able to capture him for around half of this price.
