GMS recruitment drive continues with another addition

After hiring Academy member Michael Panter, GiveMeSport have continued their recruitment drive by increasing the number of full-time sports writers to 13 with the addition of George Flood.

Michael became the first member of the GMS Academy to join the sports desk having initially been among the 2,500 aspiring writers to already contribute articles to the website.

GiveMeSport last week revealed its intention to increase the size of its editorial staff by 50 percent and, with Michael having landed a role, George now joins one of the fastest growing writing teams in the country.

George is a sport journalism graduate from the University of Brighton, where he was the editor of the award nominated website Overtime, and joins GiveMeSport having initially undertaken a four-week training programme with the company.

The month-long course at the GMS office in London was something George benefitted from greatly, and he is now eager to maintain his own growth as the website continues its rapid expansion.

"I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to kickstart my journalism career at such an ambitious company," George said.

"Following a four-week spell at GiveMeSport that took place almost immediately following my graduation, I was fortunate enough to be selected selected for a permanent writer's position.

"I have enjoyed my time immensely at GMS so far, the job provides a really stern test of your journalistic and editing capabilities on a daily basis."

The addition of George to the team serves as further proof of GMS's commitment to investing in young sports writing talent when others are being forced to fire, rather than hire.

"The job market within this particular industry is obviously not as prosperous as in previous years, so after graduating I was initially very concerned that a lack of real opportunities could threaten to curtail my journalism career before it had even begun," George added.
