Everyone was taken by surprise yesterday when they saw Tottenham's forgotten central-midfielder Sandro had returned to the starting line-up in Spurs' comfortable 3-0 win over Europa League opponents Dinamo Tbilisi sporting an unmissable ginger beard.

Plagued with injury problems for the majority of last campaign, Spurs' fans must have thought Sandro was one of the club's new signings as the midfielder, nicknamed the 'Beast', returned from the wilderness with a shaved head and a rather collaboration of ginger hair on his face.

It takes a brave man to attempt to grow a beard, let alone a ginger one, but as you can see Sandro doesn't really pull it off.

GMS now looks at some of the best and worst footballing beards in recent times.

Things are about to get hairy, you've been warned.
