Gareth Bale's world-record transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid looks like it is nearing completion, after a picture emerged of the Welsh winger's new football boots being posted to Spain, reports the Daily Star.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the package arrived at the Primera Division club's training base in Valdebebas earlier today [Friday], ahead of Bale's expected unveiling at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Bale has been the subject of intense transfer speculation all summer, with Real Madrid locked in negotiations with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for weeks, as the two parties continue to wrangle over the fee.

With transfer deadline day just a matter of days away, negotiations now appear to be entering the final stages, with this DHL Express Company package sent by Bale's boot-makers Adidas to Real Madrid.

It's not yet clear what the agreed price to trigger the player's White Hart Lane exit will be, but it's expected to eclipse the existing record £80million that Los Blancos paid Manchester United to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

Speaking after Tottenham's Europa League play-off second leg tie against Dinamo Tbilisi, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas admitted that he knew nothing about where the transfer was at.

"The chairman is in control of the situation, so I can't tell you anything," he said. "I have no idea."
