Arsenal have constantly been criticised for their lack of signings this summer. It is easy to blame all of these on Arsene Wenger or the board but could some of the unsuccessful transfers be partly down to back luck?
Gonzalo Higuain was one of the first people Arsenal were interested in, the transfer deal with Real Madrid for him was apparently put on hold whilst Arsenal focused on Luis Suarez. Then while Arsenal were distracted with Suarez, Napoli slipped under the radar of the media and snatched Higuain from Arsenal’s reaches. Then the player that had distracted Arsenal then apologised to his club and decided to remain there.
This is not the only way Arsenal have been unlucky. Arsenal were interested in Jovetic and Cavani but Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain offered more money. Furthermore, Chelsea have had more interest in Wayne Rooney and that is seeming more and more unlucky for the Gunners to get him day by day. Ashley Williams has said he wants to stay at Swansea, and Loic Remy has left for Newcastle.
If Arsenal still wish to get in some players before the end of the transfer window there are a very limited amount of players still available or realistic to sign. The likes of Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil, Paul Pogba, and Yohan Cabaye still seem possible however given Arsenals transfer record they don’t seem probable. Although saying this they do spend a lot on transfer deadline day so they could surprise us.
Who do you think Arsenal should have and should sign? Please leave comments below...
