Manchester United are closing in on a £40million double deal for Everton pair Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, according to the Sunday Express.
Red Devils boss David Moyes has been courting the duo throughout the summer and reports suggest he could be close to finally landing the Everton stars.
Manchester United saw a £28million bid for Fellaini and Baines rejected on August 19 – which resulted in Everton publicly describing the offer as ‘derisory and insulting’.
The Premier League champions renewed their interest on Thursday by making a £36million bid, which was also said to be rejected by the Toffees.
However Manchester United have moved a step closer to bringing in their first big-name signings of the summer by reportedly matching Everton’s valuation of both Fellaini and Baines.
Both aforementioned players took part in Everton’s goalless draw against Cardiff on Saturday, in what now looks likely to be their final appearance for Roberto Martinez’s side.
