Arsenal have widened their transfer wish list to include several 'second string targets' such as Joshua Guilavogui, according to the Daily Express.
The North London club have seen countless offers knocked back for high profile players such as Gonzalo Higuain, Lars Bender, Yohan Cabaye and infamously Luis Suarez.
There is now a belief within the Emirates that, with time against them, Arsenal must begin to explore other options to reinforce their paper thin squad.
More additions, following the arrival of Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer, before the north London derby appear unlikely, although Arsenal fans can expect an exciting deadline day.
Whether expensive deals for Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema can be pulled off remains to be seen, and therefore Arsenal have drawn up these new targets as a contingency plan.
Meanwhile it appears ever more likely that Nicklas Bendtner will remain with the Gunners for the season, with no club willing to meet his inflated wage demands.
Unless Hull or Crystal Palace can find £50,000 a week to pay Bendtner, the Danish international will see out the remainder of his contract with Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger did not rule out the possibility of the striker featuring for the Gunners this year, raising the possibility that the Dane has not played his last game for Arsenal.
