17.40 - It's goodbye from me, Pete South. Thanks for joining me, it's been real. My esteemed colleague Brendan Simpson will take you through the rest of the evening. Join him by clicking here.
17.38 - A quick recap of today's events before I'm off:
Arsenal are close to completing a deal that could be worth up to €50m for Real Madrid's Mesut Ozil. It is expected he'll be unveiled as an Arsenal player shortly.
Manchester United remain in the hunt for a new midfielder and could in fact sign two - Ander Herrera, whose €36m release clause the Red Devils have reportedly met, and Marouane Fellaini who has been granted extra time away from the Belgian national team to sort out his future.
Man Utd reportedly have £15m bid for Leighton Baines turned down.
Everton make move for Fernando as a replacement for Fellaini, and are also linked with Gareth Barry and James McCarthy from Wigan.
Liverpool complete deals for Sakho, Ilori and Moses
QPR closing in on loan deals for Tom Carroll and Benoit Assou-Ekotto for Tottenham.
Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner spotted at Crystal Palace.
Confirmed Deadline Day deals so far: Victor Moses - Chelsea to Liverpool (loan) Lee Camp - West Brom (free) Mamadou Sakho - Paris Saint-Germain to Liverpool (undisclosed) Morgan Amalfitano - Marseille to West Brom (loan) Tiago Ilori - Sporting Lisbon to Liverpool (undisclosed) Marko Arnautovic - Werder Bremen to Stoke (undisclosed) Jack Hunt - Huddersfield to Crystal Palace (undisclosed) Emmanuel Mayuka - Southampton to Sochaux (loan) Abdul Razak - Manchester City to Anzhi Makhachkala (loan) Francisco Junior - Everton to Vitesse Arnhem (loan) Sam Hutchinson - Chelsea to Vitesse Arnhem (loan)
17.29 - We're into the last six hours of Deadline Day and I'll soon be signing off and retiring with a well-earned straight vodka.
Before I go a few bits and pieces floating around the internet that need addressing....
Not quite the confirmation you were after but almost there.
17.12 - Some more summer transfer bargain suggestions rolling in from Twitter...

@gurmin_8: it has to be kaka
16.53 - We've been asking you to get in touch with your best summer transfer window bargains - and you've come up with a few gems. Keep sending in your suggestions to @GMS_football and to firstname.lastname@example.org - here a few of the best....
@Nurlan7: Right now, it could only be Kaka
@bainseyDiego10: Juan Quintero to Porto for €5 million. An Absolute steal, Would have cost an #EPL team #30 million
@Jak_Edgley: For a fee? Has to be Mignolet at the moment.
@ShortieByName: Nathan Redmond has added a new dimension to Norwich, such a prospect and all for £2m #bargain
"I understand that Arsenal have made an enquiry about an ambitious move for PSG's Javier Pastore.
"The Argentinian joined the French club for a huge £33.7million in 2011 but has fallen out of favour recently and is yet to score this season.
"It is believed that other English clubs have made contact about his availability, but the striker would like to stay in France."
16:37 - Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has retweeted a comment from boxer Felix Strum about Ozil's move to Arsenal. The announcement should be soon....
16.35 - GMS' very own Patrick Surlis has filed this - reports in France saying PSG are ready to move for Juan Mata. Click here to read his story.
16.32 - Now this is very funny - Usain Bolt has been speaking out about Manchester United's transfer plans, and he's not a happy bunny....
16.27 - This from the infinite resource that is Twitter. Arsenal have been busy little bees haven't they...
"Palermo president has confirmed Viviano "will go to Arsenal". Medical was yesterday. £1m loan fee, option to buy included."
16.23 - Jordan Rhodes is going nowhere say Blackburn amidst interest from Wigan, while West Brom have confirmed the arrival of Lee Camp on a rolling monthly contract.
16.21 - Swansea look to have bought their summer business to a close with the loan signing of Alvaro Vazquez.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins: "Michael (Laudrup) knows the player very well and, when you weigh up what else we have in the squad, a young player with potential who has already done well out in Spain looks like the right signing for us at this stage."
16.20 - Our man Paul Bailey has the full story on the quotes we bought you earlier from Stephan El Shaarawy. Read his story here.
16.17 - The Belgian FA have confirmed that Marouane Fellaini has been allowed to report for international duty late as he tries to get some clarity over his future and his potential move to Manchester United.
16.09 - Some updates filtering through about Leighton Baines and it's not good news for Manchester United fans.
"#mufc have made separate £15m bid for Baines but #efc /Bill Kenwright digging the old heels in."
"Leighton Baines has accepted that Manchester United will not be able to convince Everton to part with both himself and Marouane Fellaini in the current transfer window. Though the England left back had asked new manager Roberto Martinez to sanction a switch to the Premier League champions, Everton have held to a stance that Baines was not for sale.
"Instead, they are prepared to sell the more highly paid Fellaini to United and reinvest part of the fee in signing James McCarthy, outstanding for Martinez at Wigan Athletic."
15:56 - An update from Spain on Ander Herrera's potential move to Manchester United.
AS report that Herrera has deposited the €36m (his release clause) himself, which isn't as crazy as it sounds, but an odd quirk of the Spanish transfer system.
The publication adds that the young Spaniard will actually take a pay cut of around €1 million to head to Old Trafford and sign a "four or five year deal".
"Everton agreed deal for Porto's Brazilian midfielder Fernando. Roberto Martinez in work permit meeting now. Lined up as Fellaini replacement."
15.38 - Looks like Bild have backed up Alex Kay's story that Ozil will be announced shortly. What a signing that is for Arsenal (even though, strictly speaking, they don't need him).
15.31 - Looks like Arsenal's move for Mesut Ozil is almost over the line. The Daily Mail say Ozil will be unveiled by the Gunners at 4.30pm, so in just over an hours time.
The Mail's Alex Kay says: "My source in Spain is telling me that Ozil to Arsenal will be announced at 4.30pm English time.
"That would be an incredible coup. And what an introduction to the glamour of the Premier League it would be for him. First up? Sunderland away."
The paper adds that Ozil will become Arsenal's highest paid player (which would put him at about £150,00-per-week) and will sign a five-year deal.
"Adebayor didn't want to move to Russia a couple of weeks ago but now he might have to as his options are limited. Zenit tried hard to get Lewandowski but failed.
"If they fail to get Yarmolenko they could have to take Adebayor. Yes, he's black but Spalletti might finally press and insist on signing a black player even if the club never did so in their history."
15.17 - Superbly swift resolution to this "Mata to Liverpool" nonsense. The BBC's Ben Smith describes the rumours as a "load of rubbish".
Glad that's been sorted then.
15.13 - Adrian Mariappa is on the verge of completing a move to Crystal Palace, along with Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.
15.06 - Time for the outlandish rumour of the day...Radio Marca are reportedly claiming that Liverpool have made a £25m offer for....Chelsea's Juan Mata - which has been rejected.
Ahem...let's see how that one pans out..... coughs *bull?!%t*
14.57 - Update on Everton's move for Fernando from Porto via Duncan Castles, of the Sunday Times amongst other publications.
"FC Porto say they have not sold Brazil midfielder Fernando to Everton."
Interesting to see how that one develops.
14.55 - Bit of news from transfer Godfather Gianluca di Marzio regarding a few potential exits from Spurs:
"@OfficialQPR are in advanced talks with @SpursOfficial for duo Tom #Carroll and Assou #Ekotto on a season long deal."
"Great news for Arsenal-fans. I understand that there is verbal agreement between Arsenal and Özil. My source: Just signature missing!"
14.45 - It's all been a bit quiet at Stamford Bridge today, but GMS head-honcho Mark Bollons has been writing about Juan Mata's future. See if the Spaniard could be on the move here.
"Spoken to Bilbao. They "can't confirm" if United have improved their offer for Ander Herrera. Only said as it stands no deal in place."
14.29 - A few potential new arrivals at Everton today. Of course James McCarthy remains the most likely, but some rumours doing the rounds that Gareth Barry could be on his way to Goodison Park. Now Ian Dennis of the BBC says the Merseyside club are launching a late move for Porto's midfielder Fernando.
14.25 - Reports in Russia saying rumours that Spurs would have to pay £10m to loan Hulk are wrong. Artur Petrosyan, Editor-in-chief of Sport-Express.ru says:
"Wrong reports in UK press. It's not #Zenit who offered #THFC to take Hulk on loan. It's Spurs who offered £10m to them. Spalletti refused."
"Expect #mufc to get Fellaini done by close of play. Herrera will be tricky. Time running out on that one."
"United have offered 36 for Herrera. "Herrera will have to pass medical and United pay it all in cash but deal practically done"
What do you make of the Manchester United fans?
14.02 - Gareth Bale has been speaking at his unveiling today and has some things to say which may interest Tottenham fans:
"Daniel Levy is a hard business man but I thank him for reaching an agreement with Real Madrid," he said. "I'd like to thank all Tottenham fans for their support."
He added: "I've kept in touch with Modric since he left Tottenham. He recommended I come here. I had great 6 years at Tottenham. It was hard for me to say goodbye."
Of the prospect of linking up with Cristiano Ronaldo - he said: "I don't think I need to help Cristiano to be the best player in the world because he already is. He is the boss here, he is the best player in the world. I want to learn from him."
13.49 - Update from Germany and former pro Jan Aage Fjortoft: "Özil is right now doing his medical in Munich (Bild) by Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt.No Confirmation, but getting very close now Arsenal-fans."
13.46 - Right, I make that lunch. While I'm off refuelling and bathing my fingers in ice, here's a round-up of this morning's headlines:
Liverpool wrap up deals for Sakho, Moses and Ilori.
Gareth Bale completes his move to Real Madrid and is unveiled in front of 20,000 fans at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal agree fee of around €45m + €5m in add-ons for Mesut Ozil, according to reports. The German is believed to be undergoing a medical.
Manchester United edging towards a deal for Marouane Fellaini from Everton, who are in talks with Wigan over James McCarthy.
QPR eye various deals for Tottenham players, including Tom Carroll, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe.
13.22 - Tottenham, who have completed their business nice and early in this transfer window, are said to be sniffing around Blackpool winger Tom Ince. It won't be happening, according to Goal's Wayne Veysey.
"Tom Ince has rejected #THFC interest & decided to remain at Blackpool. Likely to run down contract, which has one year to run."
13.14 - The Manchester United/Fellaini & Baines deal is rumbling on in the background - and news of Everton's move for James McCarthy from Wigan could certainly facilitate that.
Here's an update from the BBC's Neil Johnston: "Wigan's James McCarthy given permission by Giovanni Trapattoni to join the ROI squad late as he resolves his future."
13.01 - Of course it wouldn't be deadline day without Peter Odemwingie knocking desperately on training ground doors or trying to persuade security staff he actually is a professional footballer.
BBC Wales say Cardiff City have been given permission to speak to the West Bromwich striker.
12.55 - Update from Sky Germany. They say that Mesut Ozil underwent a medical check in Munich and is yet to hook up with the rest of his Germany national team-mates having asked manager Joachim Low for extra time away from the group to sort out his future. He should be back with them by 2pm this afternoon.
They also say Ozil didn't want to leave Real Madrid but has been forced out following the arrival of Gareth Bale.
A side note from our friends in Germany - the transfer window there is shut so Emmanuel Adebayor won't be joining Schalke.
12.40 - Tony Barrett, journalist with The Times, has the following update on Manchester United's attempts to land Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.
"Talks between Man United and Everton continuing but no breakthrough."
So not really an update, but still, y'know, needs must....
12.42 - Guillem Balague is on fire; the Spaniard is on Sky Sports while simultaneously tweeting the following:
"Ozil passing medical at Arsenal in Germany... Di Maria doesn't want to leave, let's see. And Herrera to United is still a possibility."
Just had word on the grapevine that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has confirmed during Gareth Bale's unveiling that he has accepted two bids for Mesüt Ozil. Not substantiated as yet though - we'll hopefully have more on that shortly.
12.30 - Gareth Bale, being unveiled as a Real Madrid player, is speaking Spanish. In a Welsh accent. It kinda works.
"It is a dream to be here, and play for Real Madrid. Thank you for this welcome. Hala Madrid!"
The former Spurs' man is then presented with his number 11 shirt.
12.24 - Right, Stephan El Shaarawy has put rumours of his potential switch to Man City to bed:
He told Sky Sports Italia: "I will remain at Milan, this is a precise choice on my part. I won't comment Allegri's decisions.
"I will adapt to new formation, I can be a second striker. There is more competition but there will be room for all."
"Kaka' for me is a dream that comes true, I can say that I'm very happy because he is my idol."
So it doesn't look like Manchester City will be too busy today after all. There's still time, mind...
12.18 - A quite funny line coming from Sky News' James Pearce regarding Arsenal's interest in Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye:
"I'm told Mike Ashley let Cabaye listen to phone negotiations last week + he heard Arsenal say: "25 million a lot for a reserve".
Yeah, that's one way to puncture a player's ego...
Another Arsenal update (that north London derby win has really gone to their head), this time from the BBC's David Ornstein who has a follow-up story about the Gunners' interest in Demba Ba and more:
"Arsenal holding initial talks with Chelsea to sign Ba on season-long loan. Deal for Palermo GK Viviano close (backup to Szczesny)"
12.10 - Gareth Bale is about to be unveiled as a Real Madrid player at the Bernabeu - around 25,000 people are there to greet him. Not quite Cristiano Ronaldo standards, but not too shabby.
11.59 - Away from the Ozil saga for a moment and an update from the north east has revealed that Liverpool striker Fabio Borini is on his way to Sunderland on loan.
"Fabio Borini has arrived at the Stadium of Light - poised to complete a season-long loan from Liverpool," says Scott Wilson of The Northern Echo.
11.52 - Arsenal's interest in Angel di Maria has cooled according to Wilson.
"With Mesut Ozil close to completion, Arsenal are not now pursuing Angel di Maria."
"Real Madrid are to resist Arsenal and Tottenham approaches to sign Angel Di Maria and Fabio Coentrao respectively, following a personal intervention by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The pair had looked to be heading for the Bernabeu exit following an unsettled summer at the club, with their sales also providing funds for Real's imminent capture of Gareth Bale from Tottenham. Ancelotti, however, has stepped in to convince both that their future is in Madrid, scuppering the two deals."
"Transfer record fee between Arsenal and Real Madrid agreed...now down to Mesut Ozil who is in Germany."
Wilson adds that personal terms have not been agreed and it isn't a sure thing that they will be. Deal, as we mentioned earlier is believed to be worth €45 + €5m.
Further update from Jeremy Wilson: "Arsenal have representatives in Germany to try and tie up Ozil deal. Fee agreed, now personal terms and medical to do."
The Telegraph's man in the know also adds that the Gunners have a deal in place for Palermo 'keeper Emiliano Viviano.
11.32 - Right, things are getting a little confusing - this from John Cross of the Mirror, who certainly knows his stuff with all things Arsenal:
"I'm hearing Mesut Ozil is agreed and done to Arsenal as a permanent deal."
"Ozil is on international duty with Germany and will have medical there. He is keen to come. But the deal is done in principle."
11.28 - Some big news from CNN's Tancredi Palmeri about the future of Mesut Ozil - listen up Arsenal and Manchester United fans:
"ARSENAL'S BID FOR OZIL HAS BEEN OUTBID BY PSG 2 MINUTES AGO!" Says the Italian.
Can anything be straight-forward for the Gunners in this window?
11.26 - A bit of a lull in deadline day action means we can have a bit of a recap/ do a little bit of housekeeping.
So the big stories of the morning are: Gareth Bale completes his medical ahead of his move to Real Madrid, Arsenal make huge offer for Mesut Ozil amidst Manchester United interest, and Liverpool sign no less than three players before lunch.
Bit of news through that will be of interest to West Brom and Sunderland fans - The Baggies are making a move for Stephane Sessegnon.
11.13 - This is likely to be a story that runs right through to 11pm tonight - Real Madrid are considering a late approach for Luis Suarez, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
Sky Sports' (and AS writer incidentally) Guillem Balague, calls it slightly differently...
"Real Madrid rang Liverpool two weeks ago about Suarez & was told he is not for sale & don't ring again. No calls made by Madrid for Luis today so far."
11.03 - News coming thick and fast.....Liverpool confirm they have signed Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea, and Gareth Bale has completed his medical ahead of his unveiling as a Real Madrid player at around 12pm this afternoon.
10.47 - It's all been a bit subdued at the Etihad Stadium today, but there is still hope Manchester City can pull of an audacious move for AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy. Italian transfer guru Tancredi Palmeri with the latest:
"Negotiations between Manchester City and El Shaarawy not called off. Difficult deal though, as City offer much less than the €30m expected"
10.37 - Here's the latest on Manchester United's interest in Mesut Ozil, which may/may not be out of date depending on who you choose to believe. Oh the fun of deadline day..
10.33 - Is it OK to lift directly from a rival deadline day blog? Well let's find out....
"Real Madrid are presenting Mesut Ozil as a man who pushed for an exit (essentially because he lacked stomach for competition and wants more money) but they are very happy that there is such a big bid for him.
"If departures fall into place (Ozil, Kaka), Madrid will try again for Luis Suarez. Liverpool have so far been unequivocal that he is not going, though.
"Athletic Bilbao manager Ernesto Valverde yesterday said he didn't expect Ander Herrera to go. That's essentially because Athletic will demand the buy-out clause and not only have United not matched that (€36m euros), but if they do it would be liable to tax at either 21% (VAT) or over 50% (income tax because player would deposit money).
There are ways round that but it is complex and we're into final day."
"Roberto [Martinez] is chasing James McCarthy. If Everton sell Fellaini, they're going to come in again for our boy.
"It depends whether Fellaini goes today. I have heard that he's definitely going. If Fellaini goes, Everton are going to get their £30m or whatever. Roberto knows what James is valued at so they've got to come back in with the right amount. You've got to be talking £14m or maybe a little more."
10.16 - The big story of the day is of course Gareth Bale's medical with Real Madrid ahead of his record transfer. We'll be across that story all day, for the time being this is the latest - The BBC's Dan Roan has tweeted this picture of Madrid fans queuing quite literally around the block to get a glimpse of their newest Galáctico.
"Just to put this one to bed, Man Utd are definitely not taking on Arsenal for Mesut Ozil. #MUFC #AFC"
TWEET: @KSanjayy: "I don't care who Man United sign, just someone to show we are still in it..."
Sure there are more than a few Man Utd fans who feel like this after Sunday's defeat....
10.07 - Twitter is buzzing as you would expect on deadline day - here's an update from the BBC's Ben Smith on Newcastle's attempts to land a striker....
"#NUFC will not be signing Bafetimbi Gomis from Lyon today. No further bid for Yohan Cabaye. Might change later. #AFC"
10.02 - This just in from our man Alex Martin - Arsenal are eyeing a loan move for Demba Ba. Seems like a sensible move for Arsenal but will Chelsea let him leave to join a rival? The full story is right here.
09.58 - This from Tom Collomosse from the Evening Standard on a potential Tottenham swoop for Zenit St. Petersburg forward Hulk: "Seems Hulk is a highly tricky deal. Talk of a £10m loan fee required by Zenit. Player on way to Brazil for international. Spurs were v keen."
"Player wants to come and AVB is a huge fan, but Zenit's demands are a considerable obstacle"
09.51 - We'll have more up on the Ozil story soon, Sky Sports saying for now that a deal for Marouane Fellaini remains the most likely outcome. That could trigger Everton's move for James McCarthy - although his side Wigan say there has been "no contact" from the Toffees as yet.
09.44 - Sky Sports are now saying Manchester United have "made contact" with Real Madrid over Mesut Ozil....
09.39 - Liverpool have wrapped up deals for defenders Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori (story up on the website soon), while according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague Arsenal have agreed a €45 + €5m fee for playmaker Mesut Ozil. Unfortunately for the Gunners, Marca says he has turned down the move....
09.37 - Good Morning and welcome to our very own Deadline Day live blog! Keep checking back for the latest news and rumours from what should be a frantic last 24 hours of transfer action.
Don't forget to tweet us your thoughts to @GMS_Football - let us know who you want your club to sign before the window snaps shut.
Before we get underway - let's recap what's happened already.......
