AFC South: Regular season predictions
With the NFL season quickly approaching, are the Houston Texans set to top the AFC South?
The AFC South has received attention due to the recent success of the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans. These two teams have taken the rest of the division by storm and there is no reason to predict anything else this year as the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars both have a long journey ahead if they want challenge them.
Here is my prediction for the AFC South this season:
4th Place: Jacksonville Jaguars 3-13
The Jaguars are on place for yet another disappointing season. Nothing has gone right for this team since the departure of quarterback David Garrard. The Jaguars are also dealing with many issues outside the team's performance and, unfortunately, this season doesn't look bright for them.
3rd Place: Tennessee Titans 7-9
The Titans have tried to close in on the Colts and Texans by strengthening their defence. By bringing in safety Bernard Pollard, the Titans have given themselves a hard hitting, vocal leader who repeatedly gets himself in the news for speaking his mind. This year the Titans will show some promise, however they don't have enough talent to make a playoff run. The pressure is on quarterback Jake Locker to carry the offence with running-back Chris Johnson.
2nd Place: Indianapolis Colts 11-5
This team showed tons of promise last season under quarterback Andrew Luck. With speedy wide receivers such as Reggie Wayne and Darrius Hayward-Bey, the receiving corp should carry the offence. The defence lost All-Pro Dwight Freeney to the San Diego Chargers, but still added some run-stoppers. This team looks good and there is no reason to believe that they won't return to the playoffs as a wildcard this year.
1st Place: Houston Texans 12-4
The Texans had a disappointing showing in the playoffs last year. This year they will get another shot as AFC South division champions. Matt Schaub and Arian Foster will carry the offence with J.J. Watt and Brian Cushing solidifying the defence. The Texans will get even more help on the defensive side of the ball when Ed Reed returns from his injury. It is time that the Texans turn the tide and have a successful playoff run.
AFC South Division Champions: Houston Texans
Wildcard: Indianapolis Colts
