Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku should be looking to leave Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes this evening. With the World Cup coming around next summer, Lukaku should be looking for first-team football to cement his place on the plane to Brazil.
Lukaku has yet to start for the Blues this season, which is quite remarkable considering his 17 Premier League goals last season was more than all of the current Chelsea players. With this stat in mind, it is hard to see why Jose Mourinho doesn't fancy him playing up top.
Demba Ba and Fernando Torres have been handed Premier League starts against Aston Villa and Hull City respectively - games in which neither of them scored. On Monday night against Manchester United, Mourinho decided to play without a recognised striker and Lukaku was forced to watch the entire game from the bench.
Samuel Eto'o's arrival at Stamford Bridge is only going to push Lukaku further down the pecking order. This must serve as a big disappointment for the 20-year-old following on from his breakthrough year at West Brom.
With Christian Benteke currently playing very well for Aston Villa and scoring goals, Lukaku needs to be playing first-team football on a regular basis to challenge Benteke for a starting place in the Belgium team for next summer's World Cup.
The next couple of days could be crucial for Lukaku, and, as a player who could walk into most Premier League teams, he needs to push for a move away from Chelsea, continue on from where he left off last season and show Mourinho his undoubted ability.
