Arsene Wenger could go on a deadline day spending spree

Arsene Wenger is often criticised for not spending enough - but he is also said to panic buy near to deadline day.

This season he has said he will not panic buy but looking back through his transfer history it still seems hard to believe him.

Despite many of Arsenal’s transfer targets moving elsewhere or stating that they would like to stay at their clubs, there are still some players to sign.

The four Real Madrid players that have reportedly been linked with Arsenal are Iker Casillas, Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil, and Karim Benzema. All of these players could move to Arsenal as Real Madrid will need to fund the world record breaking transfer for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale.

Arsenal have also had reported interest in Yohan Cabaye. Recently Alan Pardrew left him on the bench in their game against Fulham. Could this tell us that Newcastle are preparing their squad for a season without him?

Mikel Arteta and Per Mertersacker were bought by Arsenal very near to the transfer deadline two years ago. So far Arsenal have only signed two players, (Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini) but they have not bought anyone.

Are we still in store for a surprise? Arsenal apparently have the financial capabilities to strengthen and add big names to the club but the starting eleven still remains untouched.

The Arsenal fans will be hoping Wenger suddenly becomes a shopaholic and spends big. Plus with Arsenal’s difficult Champions League draw many people would see signings as essential if Arsenal wish to challenge for trophies this season.
