Manchester United and Arsenal will now wildly over-pay for any player at this late stage in the window.
Now that there is a matter of hours left in the transfer window, clubs can easily take advantage of desperate managers and David Moyes of United and Arsene Wenger of Arsenal fall into that category.
With both clubs yet to make a major signing, fans have been getting increasingly frustrated with every missed opportunity, and now these clubs are stuck in a situation they didn’t want to be in, without a signing on transfer deadline day.
The two managers have been trying desperately to pull off a deal, but every time they have been close, the player in question has been taken from their despairing grasp; it has to stop.
United and Arsenal must get a deal done quickly, and can’t afford to let another player out of their reach, or it could be the start of a long season, with only the winter transfer window offering much hope.
Arsenal have targeted many of the same players as United, with Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria both on the radar of the two clubs. Whether or not either club will get either player we are yet to see, but what we know is that United and Arsenal will have to pay in excess of the odds to get them.
To conclude, Moyes and Wenger may have to pay over the odds for a player, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
