Here, I look at five young talents who could be set to take the Premier League by storm in the coming months:
Wilfried Zaha - Manchester United
He hasn't had the best start to his Premier League career, sitting on the bench for one game and not even making it the second. However, he remains one of the league's brightest youngsters. Only 20-years-old, Zaha has the ability to beat any defender from a standing position. He has an uncanny ability to blast past defenders, leaving them in the wake of his incredible speed. Yes, the final product isn't always as good as it can be, but that will come with time. He is a game-changer and an asset to any team.
Christian Eriksen - Tottenham
This was a signing that not many saw coming, but Eriksen at one point was touted by United fans as the next Paul Scholes. With incredible vision for one so young, he has dominated the Eredivisie for the majority of his career so far. He has the ability to pick a cross field ball and drop it on a dime or slice the defence open with a single stroke of his leg. His dribbling skills aren't too shabby either and you can expect him to make a big splash at Tottenham following his move from Ajax.
Erik Lamela - Tottenham
The Argentine Cristiano Ronaldo came to the Spurs in another late move. He is seen as the direct replacement for the departed Gareth Bale and has the potential to not only equal his Welsh predecessor, but to better him. Another superstar dribbler, he is a little less raw than the mercurial Zaha, with a well-honed ability to play a final ball but without the same explosiveness. Lamela is, and will be on many occasions this season, a real game-changer.
Andre Schürrle - Chelsea
Touted for a long time as a real world-class winger in the Bundlesliga, Schürrle finally made the transfer to a larger team this summer. He is easily the quickest player on the Chelsea pitch and potentially one of the fastest in the league. Jose Mourinho has placed immense trust in him, judging from his start against Manchester United last week. Able to play as winger or striker, Schürrle can shoot with both feet and can take the ball wide or cut in depending on how he reads the game. He can beat defenders at will and you can expect him to make a big splash this season.
Stevan Jovetic - Manchester City
Jovetic has been slogging it out in Serie A for the last few seasons knowing full well that soon a big name team would come and buy him. The young striker will have a hard time displacing Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo but he certainly has the ability. A fantastic finisher and a strangely potent dribbler for his role on the field, Jovetic can potentially play any position up front. He has a strong shot on him and also has the ability to bring other players into the game. He may not rack up the goals this season but expect him to make a big team impact.
