Tottenham: Why they lost at the Emirates

Tottenham were defeated by their arch rivals Arsenal yesterday afternoon, despite spending money on a number of players so far this summer.

The reason is, Spurs' new recruits need time to settle at White Hart Lane. They were not looking bad in the derby, they kept the ball well, but lacked urgency going forward.

Townsend was the only player who seemed to be attacking and Chadli started in good form as well. The midfield has many new players, that's why they could not coordinate with each other as effectively as Arsenal.

With Santi Cazorla slicing passes through the centre-backs and Walcott making the runs, the Gunners were just too strong on this occasion.

Soldado wasn't provided the ball that much my the midfield so he had only one shot at the goal. If the midfield can become more of a strong unit, then Tottenham can get ahead of their north London rivals.

I am pretty sure that the next north London derby will be much different. By then the players would have know each other well - they will know each others movements and the midfield can provide the killer balls needed for Soldado.

So, Tottenham will win the next derby and will surely be a step ahead of Arsenal this season.
