Southampton forward Emmanuel Mayuka has been loaned to French club FC Sochaux for the season after failing to make an impression on the Premier League, reports the BBC.
The striker, who has 10 goals in over 40 appearances for Zambia, didn't manage to register a single goal in his debut season in England after seeing his opportunities limited.
In fact he made just one Premier League start and a further 10 substitute appearances.
Mayuka hoped that the change in management from Nigel Adkins to Mauricio Pochettino might spark an upturn in his own fortunes but he failed to impress the Argentine and spent most of his time in the Under 21 squad.
The arrivals of Pablo Osvaldo together with other arrivals and players like Adam Lallana returning to some form mean that this season would prove even more difficult to get game time and this exit fits his need for regular football.
The 22-year-old commented on his move: "I'm happy to sign with FC Sochaux. I need to have more game time so I had to be loaned from Southampton - I thank them for understanding.
"I cannot wait to play my first game with Sochaux,"
FC Sochaux are second from bottom in Ligue 1 with two points from four games so far this season.
