Arsenal are chasing a deadline day loan deal for Chelsea's wantaway striker Demba Ba, according to London Evening Standard.
The Senegalese striker joined from Newcastle for £7.5m last January, but has only managed to score twice in the league since his move.
Ba has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, especially since the arrival of Samuel Eto'o and the return of Romelu Lukaku from his loan at West Brom.
With limited first-team opportunities for Ba, a loan move could help to reignite his career and help him rediscover the goalscoring form he possessed whilst at Newcastle.
Oliver Giroud seems to have adjusted to the Premier League well this season and has netted three times in Arsenal's opening three games. However, with Lukas Podolski ruled out with a hamstring injury, Arsenal have been left a little light of attacking options.
Nicklas Bendtner is almost certain to draw a close to his nightmare spell at the club, with Crystal Palace his most likely destination. That leaves just Giroud and youngster Yaya Sanago as Arsene Wenger's only fit forwards.
However, Chelsea may be reluctant to sell a player to one of their main rivals, alerting Roma and Rubin Kazan to the possibility of a deal. Mourinho is believed to be willing to let Ba go for £10m or for £3m in a season-long loan deal.
It remains to be seen whether Demba Ba will still be a blue by the end of the day.
