Mesut Ozil has appeared to be replaced in the Real Madrid midfield by new signings Isco and Gareth Bale.
And, it now looks likely he will join Arsenal, and he will be a great catch for Arsene Wenger and would be the star signing fans have been waiting for.
Ozil would presumably play in the middle of the midfield pushing Santi Cazorla out to the left. This wouldn't necessarily be a bad move as last season when Cazorla was played on the left he was more productive according to the stats. It would also allow the two to interchange mid match and cause real havoc to any opposing defence.
At Arsenal Ozil would be a much bigger focal point of the attack, unlike at Madrid where everything flowed through Cristiano Ronaldo. This would allow him to have a greater number of touches and be more deadly to the opposition.
His incredible assists tally for Madrid shows his class and at Arsenal his assist numbers may drop slightly but he would become a greater part of the offence without delivering the final ball.
Ozil's main strengths are obviously his passing and vision. These skills allow him to cut open any defence with a perfect pass. This could be deadly by putting through players like Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the wings. Although he won't add the goals Arsenal need its not necessarily a bad thing as the Gunners have good goal scorers in Giroud and Walcott as well as Podolski.
Arsenal play counter attacking football which suits Ozil perfectly as seen in his great displays for Germany, notably in the 2010 World Cup. He would be able to skip past defenders and put away the Arsenal forwards making Arsenals counter attack even more deadly than it already is.
Although Santi Cazola did so well finding passes in the attacking third last year, having both him and Ozil would be deadly. Ozil possesses arguably a better passing game and would make passes not seen at Arsenal since Cesc Fabregas left.
Arsenal play the perfect style of play for Ozil to flourish and he would be a main man which someone of his caliber deserves. If this deal is wrapped out it will be a dream signing for Gunners fans
