Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has warned Premier League rivals his team are ready to make up for their narrow 1-0 defeat against Liverpool.

David Moyes' side struggled against north-west rivals Liverpool on Sunday and failed to break down a resilient Chelsea side.

Manchester United face Premier League new boys Crystal Palace on September 14 in their next competitive game due to the upcoming two-week international break.

Vidic, who will be among a handful of first team players training at the Aon Training Complex due to his retirement from the Serbian national team, is hoping his teammates get the Liverpool result out of their system as soon as possible.

The 31-year-old, speaking to MUTV, said: “You need the next game as quickly as possible.

“The next game is Crystal Palace and we have to be ready.

“Some of us will stay here [in Manchester] and we will work hard, some players will go away and maybe a few of them will need the games as well.

"Sometimes you need to go away, play for the national team and come back ready to perform.”

After facing Palace, United kick off their Champions League campaign against German side Bayer Leverkusen before travelling to the Etihad Stadium to play Premier title rivals Manchester City.
