The transfer window is poised to slam shut tonight and one person who looked a dead certainty to be on the move this summer was Julio Cesar, so why hasn't it happened?
By 11pm tonight Cesar may well have found a club, he's probably flying around in a helicopter somewhere right now but why is it so rushed.
You wouldn't think there would be a shortage of interest for the the Brazilian national keeper and a deal would surely suit all parties.
For QPR - they want to sell, to have the wages of both Robert Green and Cesar for a year in the Championship is crippling, its financial suicide and they've already started a clear-out of big earners.
He hasn't started any games yet, has no injury and continues to be called up Brazil so there clearly isn't a desperation to get him involved for the year.
The willingness of the R's to sell is plain to see, by excluding him they have lost themselves a bargaining tool so all offers big or small will be considered, they cannot demand mega bucks.
And what about the players perspective; the World Cup in Brazil follows the conclusion of this season, every Brazilian must be itching to get themselves in contention, if Cesar is twiddling his thumbs without a club, or even if he plays for the R's is he likely to be considered? Yeovil's strike-force isn't ample preparation for facing the world's best strikers.
There have been so many clubs included in talk, but no more than just talk.
Arsenal, Napoli, Fiorentina, Benfica, Villarreal and West Brom have supposedly had a look but it seems strange that none would even bid for one of the world's top keepers.
The Champions League winner with Inter Milan may have been between the sticks for QPR's dismal relegation season but arguably without him it could have and indeed would have been worse.
At 33-years-old Cesar still has a good few years left at the very top of his game, and if Mark Schwarzer at 40-years-old can get himself a transfer to Chelsea but Julio Cesar cannot get anything then something has gone wrong somewhere along the line.
