Manchester United appear to have missed out on defender target Ezequiel Garay this summer.
The 26-year-old Argentine international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with new Red Devils boss David Moyes courting the Benfica star and considering a £21.5million move for the player earlier in the month.
However, Garay insists he is more than happy at the Estadio da Luz, and is highly unlikely to make a move away from Portugal in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
"I am under contract with Benfica and I am very happy here," he told Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Manchester United have been relatively quiet in the transfer window following Sir Alex Ferguson's departure, with new manager David Moyes struggling to bring top targets to the Premier League champions.
Cesc Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara have both been on the club’s radar this summer, but stayed at Barcelona and moved to Bayern Munich respectively.
Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera does appear set to bolster the Manchester United midfield, but the new boss appears to have turned his attention away from the defence as Garay prepares to stay in Portugal.
