In five years time will we all be reminiscing about the transfer deadline day of 2013 where Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for £42.5 million?

Remembering it as the moment that transformed Arsenal from being a club that sold their best players and replaced them with mediocrity, to one that competed to sign the best players in the world and challenge once again.

If he can replicate his incredible form that he exhibited at Real Madrid then he is capable of transforming Arsenal, and getting the best out of those around him.

The thought of lining up against a team with Ozil as well as the quality of Cazorla, Wilshere, Walcott and the ever improving Aaron Ramsey will be genuinely frightening for teams lining up against Arsenal, something that cannot be said about recent teams.

Dennis Bergkamp transformed Arsenal from mediocrity into a fearsome European force, Ozil certainly has the potential to do the same.

On a negative note, Deadline Day failed to provide any more permanent signings for Arsenal even though many fans were expecting strengthening at the back.

Emiliano Viviano however has been signed as back up to Number 1 Wojciech Szczęsny, on a season long loan from Palermo.

Another benefit that Arsenal will have in the Ozil deal is that top players in the future will now be far more inclined to join the club, now that they are exhibiting ambition and signing quality like the German ace.
