Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has been the subject of an audacious swap deal bid by Spurs in return for Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor according to reports.
The Mirror suggests that Chelsea were quick to reject the offer, while Spurs failed to improve their offer as they looked to add an attacker after struggling to net goals so far in this season's Premier League.
With the addition of Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe being the second choice striker, Emmanuel Adebayor is deemed to be made surplus to requirements at Tottenham, but chairman Daniel Levy is finding it difficult to offload the striker due to his high demand in wages.
Spaniard Fernando Torres scored in last week's game against Bayern Munich, but with the arrival of striker Samuel Eto'o and the significant amount of attacking minded players Chelsea have, Torres may not be a part of manager Jose Mourinho's future plans.
