Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admits that he didn't allow Demba Ba to move to Arsenal because the Gunners have emerged as title contenders since the arrival of 24-year-old Mesut Ozil.

The German playmaker became Arsenal's record signing in the last 30 minutes of the deadline day. Many Arsenal fans were worried that the deal wouldn't go through after their disappointment regarding the imminent transfer of Gonzalo Higuian, who later signed at Italian side Napoli.

Jose Mourinho has previously stated during his time at Real Madrid, that Ozil was the best number 10 in the world. The acclaimed 'Happy One' says that now the playmaker is at Arsenal, they have emerged as title contenders.

Arsenal also have quality in midfield with Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsay, Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky, along with the pace of Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott.

The Gunners have a strong squad for the rest of the season, despite the lack of depth in defence. After their win against Tottenham in the north London derby, they have emerged as contenders, along with the arrival of one of the best midfielders in the world.

The Gunners also bought goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on loan with an option to buy, as well as Matheiu Flamini and Yaya Sanogo, both free.
