As always Arsene Wenger has once again pulled off a deadline day transfer. His latest addition to the Arsenal squad, is German international attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil.
Once again, Wenger left it late on deadline day to complete this transfer, but he managed to break a club-record fee for one player when buying Ozil for in excess of £40million.
Ozil being the player he is and being at the age he is, has the ability to fit in straight away at Arsenal, he has the style of play that suits Arsenal, he is talented, skilful and a very clever player.
He has already had experience playing alongside both Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker and seeing how they have fit into the Arsenal style, for Ozil we hope it should be no problem at all.
Wenger also added goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on a season long-loan, midfielder Mathieu Flamini, and 20-year-old striker Yaya Sanogo; four signings including one world-class player.
Has Wenger finally taken on board the opinions and feelings of the many Arsenal fans? Will Ozil be the one player that Arsenal have been waiting for to help drive them to a title or a trophy?
I believe Wenger has pulled off one of the most amazing signings for Arsenal in recent times and I have no worries that Ozil will pay back the belief and trust that Wenger has in him by helping to drive the club forward to where they should be.
For Wenger, buying Ozil is the first step towards bringing Arsenal back to being genuine title contenders. While Wenger has regained some confidence from the Arsenal fans, should he not of added more strength to the team with a possible purchase of another striker?
But at least this will be a step in the right direction and it shows that Wenger has finally put his foot down.
